ABOUTAsia Schools provides uniforms, supplies and computers to the following schools:

KOK CHORK SCHOOL (PAGODA)

Yet another small school in desperate need of help. 120 students outside of the government system. Taught by Cambodian monks and Cambodian volunteers.

English speaking volunteers would be most welcome and could easily commute from Siem Reap. You can actually work in the grounds of a pagoda and learn from the monks.

ABOUTAsia Schools have been supporting the school with books but was recently asked to help build a classroom/meeting room. For $150 this could be built very quickly and so the school could take on more students including evening classes. Imagine our surprise when within a week the room was up and running. Another need is for posters to decorate the classroom walls to brighten the room.

The monk in charge is called Kebdaro and is one of natures gentlemen. Caring for the children is a full time occupation for him.

CHUNG LUNG PRIMARY SCHOOL

Situated behind the World Food Programme warehouse along the road from the University of South East Asia. Chung Lung Primary school has 476 students and 19 teachers. There have been many donors over the years but sadly only ABOUTAsia Schools at the present time. Supplies are in desperate need as are new clothes and some uniforms as the children are so poor.

Within the school grounds one classroom is given over to an English class come computer school. Taught by Cambodian volunteers in an effort to teach the poor children of the area. Basic English and computer skills before they go to Secondary School elsewhere.

ABOUTAsia Schools donates supplies to both schools monthly and is looking for donations to cover the cost of some new clothes and uniforms.

KOK THNOT PRIMARY SCHOOL

Built in 2007 by Koreans on the tourist scenic route. Sadly the Koreans have not returned but the school is still in good condition. They have an amazing water pump system which was drilled down to a depth of 33 metres before they found water. Now they have a huge storage tank which gives good pressure for the whole school.

The main need here is for supplies like pencils, posters, books and chalk as the regular supply system has broken down. With 240 students there is always a need.

ABOUTAsia Schools makes a monthly visit to ensure basic needs are met.
PONGRO CHASS PRIMARY SCHOOL

Located 2km from Sasarsdam Secondary School but the 2km is inland along a bumpy road. Pongro Chass Primary School has about 184 noisy happy children. There is no water supply so students carry buckets every day for use in the toilets. If a pump and a 500 gallon tank were erected then the whole village would benefit as a pipe could be easily run to the main road just outside the school.

ABOUTAsia Schools again makes monthly visits. Happily the World Food Program is supporting this school.
KOK BENG PRIMARY SCHOOL

A beautiful small Primary School not a mile from the main tourist attractions and yet so poor. Kok Beng Primary School has 250 happy smiling children. The school was built in 2002 by the Swiss who never returned and a water pump was installed by the Japanese in 2006 who also never returned, and it doesn't work.

There are 6 teachers including the principal. ABOUTAsia Schools have decided that each child should be the proud owner of their own uniform and so those children without will be supplied this term. For $5 we can give a child the white top and blue bottom to wear and be proud. Another need is for garden furniture like a swing or roundabout.

English is not taught at the moment but we are hoping that by supporting the school with supplies like books, pens, posters etc that eventually we can get the principal to include English as an extra curriculum item.
